Two hours in the back of a 2CV
A driver-guide collects you from your own address in a vintage Citroën 2CV, the roof folds back, and the champagne is already cold. For the next two hours you are driven between the lit monuments in a car that is slower than everything around it and photographed by most of it.
The route stops at the Eiffel Tower and Notre-Dame for photographs, crosses the Seine by the Louvre, climbs Montmartre below Sacré-Cœur and comes back down the Champs-Élysées past the Arc de Triomphe. Your guide narrates from the front seat as you go, and the itinerary can be shifted around traffic or around what you ask for.
What this buys that a coach cannot is the car itself. The 2CV was built in 1948 for French farmers and has a canvas roof, a two-cylinder engine and no pretensions at all, which turns an ordinary sightseeing loop into the part of the trip people talk about afterwards.
The champagne, and how the fare is charged
Champagne is included and served during the tour, with a private driver-guide and live commentary on board. The fare is charged per car for up to three passengers, not per seat, which changes the arithmetic completely: a couple pays once, and a party of three pays the same once.
That makes the most expensive-looking card in the list one of the better-value ones for two or three people, and it is the main reason this tour sits in our top three. Alcohol is served only to travellers aged eighteen and over.
What the fare covers, and what it does not

Not included: gratuities, food, and entrance tickets to any monument. This is an exterior tour; the stops are for photographs rather than for going inside.
Pickup from your own address
The operator collects from anywhere in Paris, so give a street address rather than a landmark when you book. If you would rather meet somewhere, the fallback point is the Arc de Triomphe at Place Charles de Gaulle in the 8th.
One thing worth doing before you book: from May to August, ask for the 9pm or 10pm departure. Sunset is late in those months, and an earlier car drives you round a city that is not yet lit. Our sunset times page has the exact figure for your month.
Who this suits, and who should book something else
Book this if
There are two or three of you, the evening matters, and you would rather have something memorable than something efficient. It is the best-reviewed private car in the list, and the per-car fare makes it competitive with per-person tours once there are three of you.
Book something else if
There are four or more in your party — the car takes three, and you would need two. If the forecast is wet the roof stays up and most of the point goes with it, in which case the dinner cruise is warm and unaffected. If you want to be active rather than driven, the segway tour covers similar ground.
Know before you go
- Ask for a 9pm or 10pm start between May and August. The operator requests it, and the reason is the sunset.
- Give a street address for pickup, not a hotel name alone.
- Three passengers per car. A party of four needs two cars.
- Rain means the roof stays up. Watch the forecast and use the free cancellation if it turns.
- Champagne is for over-eighteens. Younger travellers are served something else.
- The itinerary can flex. If there is somewhere you want to see, say so at the start rather than at the end.
